Many redacted PDFs leak, because the black bar is drawn over text that is still in the file. This tool makes each page of the new PDF from an image of the page, with the bars drawn in. No text, hidden layers or old versions stay in the file.

Check before you share

Automatic detection can miss things. Read every page. Drag on a page to black out anything else, such as a signature, a photo or a handwritten note. The text in the new PDF cannot be selected or searched.

Private by design

The page has no server code. PDF.js reads the PDF in your browser, and the optional AI model, bert-small-pii-detection, runs on your device. The new PDF does not keep the original's metadata.
